Cyberpunk Apocalypse Supporting the Arts in Pittsburgh.

Since December 1st, I have been drawing a lot. I promised myself I would do 5 pages a week and I guess I've been doing ten. I've just finished inking the last pages of a novel that I've been working on for my entire mature life. I still have a number of pages to shade, but for the first time in several years I'm fairly certain that this book will actually be completed before I die.

On a similar note our former resident Elwin Michael Cotman finally has his book of short stories up on Amazon for sale: CLICK. Elwin put together his collection while living here, and I think he'll agree with me when I say that the

book might not have happened if he wasn't a Cyberpunk Apocalite at the time. Through living here he was introduced to the publisher that picked up his book (Six Gallery Press), he presented many of the stories at monthly house meetings, and since he was in the house he was able to yell from his bedroom to mine, "Hey do you want to do the cover?" and, "Do I have to pay you?"

So here it is. One of my intermittent posi-checks.

We've helped 16 writers from all over North America by giving them a place to stay and work here in Pittsburgh, and have five Visiting Writers lined up for this spring and summer.

Eight or nine books have been written here, as well as countless poems, comics, and stories.

We've set up a ton of readings and events for locals as well as touring writers, and I think we've raised some awareness of the amazing resources available to burgeoning writers in our city.

Elven Slaughter Update.

I am aware that I sometimes spell Elven Elvin. But sometimes people read Elven as Eleven. What I'm trying to say is that it's an imperfect world we live in. Go figure.

Elvin Slaughter Tour

Elwin Michael Cotman (author of The Jack Daniels Sessions EP) and Daniel Patrick McCloskey (founder of the Cyberpunk Apocalypse Writers' Project) are coming to a reading venue near you. Join them for a night of entertainment, magic, comics, despair, excitement, and speculation. Because if you don't come they'll curse you, and it'll give your grandma nightmares.

Tour and Balticon. Spring prep and Toil

Elwin has been busily working on setting up tour dates for his upcoming publication The Jack Daniels Sessions EP. After tour he'll be running off to Balticon to read and be on a panel.

I just finished up the cover (to the left) and am trying to get the next draft of my book into a few select hands by the end of next week.

Besides that I'll be putting some of Walker's goodbye reading online shortly. And get ready for my new mini interview series "why we write." It should be fun.

Gunner is organizing the library, and Nia and I are working on a plan to reinvigorate open hours this spring.

Art Noose is working to revise her novel, and our visiting writer Dan G will be doing a reading on radical sobriety on February 25th 7pm at 285 Main St.

Oh, and Elwin's Birthday is tomorrow. He'll be doing a B-day reading at the house on Friday 17 at 7pm.

General Updates

Of course we are all excited about Brenda moving in. Brenda Battad has done readings with other members of the house before. Elwin has been working to schedule an east coast reading tour for his new book while I've been sketching out a rough cover design (right). The book is to be published by our friends at 6 Gallery Press and is an excellent collection of urban fantasy and black folk tale-inspired stories that are uniquely Elwin.

I'm also doing the layout for the next Cyberpunk Apocalypse issue (finally) as well as a short zine of erotic fiction stories that will be for sale at the reading we are setting up at Artist's Image Resource Center on Thursday the 11th (right before Valentine's day).
